WHAT IS HAPPENING TO OUR TWEENS/TEENS?
Adolescence and pre-adolescence are times of growth and opportunity, but our children can so easily become stuck in self-doubt, social challenge and anxiety. Seriously elevated levels of anxiety are affecting more than 15% of children and teens, significantly interfering with their ability to confidently handle everyday life situations, such as school achievement and relationships with peers, teachers and parents.

When children are struggling with worries, fears, perfectionism, sadness, issues created by divorce, bullying, or even learning challenges, the greatest help we can offer is to listen deeply and teach them skills which will build their core sense of self and ability to cope. The greatest gift we can give is to help children build resilience.

The Thrive Esteem counselling process incorporates mindfulness practices and of cognitive behaviour therapy for kids!
This program is for the prevention and treatment of children (8 to 11 years) and youth (12 to 18 years). Thrive helps children/tweens/teens develop practical skills for coping with life stress, and helps them build emotional resilience. Research indicates that after completing this kind of Mindfulness/CBT program, a child reduces the possibility of developing a full anxiety disorder and children with normal levels of worry acquire life skills needed to deal with emotional stress.
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
Ellen meets your child on an individual basis for 40 minutes. This is followed by a 10-15 minute session in which parents are invited to share in learning.
The program includes:
- Personal Counselling Conversations
- Gratitude Journal
- Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques
- Emotional Cycle: training in how to deal with strong emotions
Your child will learn about:
- Self-awareness and self-accetpatnce.
- How your brain works!
- Being the boss of your thoughts
- The Stress Bucket
- Building positive relationships
Using deep supportive coaching and cognitive awareness techniques a shift takes place, and the confidence already present within emerges and shines.
